Born in 1977 in Krakow, Poland. Simon studied sociology and psychology at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. He lives and works in Cracow.
—His artistic début took place in 2002 during the Novart.pl Festival in Cracow. There he presented "Carpet Invaders" - a simple computer game whose board was an image of a carpet projected on the floor".—Culture.pl.
—He investigates access to knowledge as well as the increasingly close and ambiguous relationships between culture and economy within neo-liberal capitalism.—Gasworks.
—Janek plays with the convention of a viewer – it’s impossible to watch his works without becoming an active participant of them. Simon creates a theatre and puts his audience in a role of actors – spontaneous and real, because unconscious. He wants them to step beyond the borders, beyond what’s officially said to be the right thing to do in a gallery – for Simon art is not something that you contemplate, but something that you have to participate in, create together with an artist.—Aleksandra Halicka at Culturebase.
