Minimalist design and use of colour, layers, transparency, grids, structures, textures, and patterns. Conversations pieces for the interior: The typically dutch collection comprises five items of furniture that are a contemporary interpretation of five masterpieces from the Zuiderzee museum's collection: Marker kast (marken cabinet), Hangoortafel (drop-leaf table), Flap-aan-de-wand (tilt-top table), Butte (wooden travel case) and Knopstoel (pegged chair). Scholten Baijings is Stefan Scholten and Carole Baijings, a design duo that has been working together since 2000.

—Wieki Somers made his classes at the Design Academy Eindhoven. 'That is well after I realized my chances of having professors like Hella Jongerius and Gijs Bakker, one of the founders of Droog'. She remembers being an "unsociable" student, keeping her distance in front of an education where concept predominated. 'Students are not allowed to draw before they have thought, researched and identified an strategy'.
—What interests her the most are the materials, their transformation and the intuitive experimentation that goes along. She is convinced, like the classical sculptors, that in every material and every technique lies a hidden story waiting to be revealed.
—The bottle "Mattress Stone" was part of an experiment that involved a balloon in a fishing net and it was born in the EKWC (European Ceramic Work Center), a laboratory where artists and designers are invited to explore new applications of ceramic.

Guido Ooms (’74) graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2000. After working as a freelance designer at different companies he started his own studio. Next to running the studio he also teaches design at the School of Arts in Utrecht. Karin van Lieshout (’74) graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2001. She has a degree in teaching (BIK, professional artist in class) and worked in various design collectives before she joined forces with Guido.

As one of the reasons for the existence of Skyscrapers is the maximization of space where land is scarce, as in the centres of big cities, to see them in the middle of a deserted landscape renders them as estranged animals out of their habitat and therefore has me thinking once again of gigantic still lifes, mute constructions and artificial realities..

"Sema Bekirovic creates photographs, videos and installations which capture the friction created by the chances of nature and design of culture. In some works she plays with the tension between gaining and letting go of control; creating situations in which things can occur or happen spontaneously, and letting chance decide how the work will develop. In other works she presents nature as something beyond control - that which we try so hard to control by means of culture. She considers photography an organic medium that can be shaped in many directions as long as the images don’t show what is, but what might be."

Born in 1980 in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Lives and works in Amsterdam. "To research and map the border-area between me and the place I am staying, I stayed as artist-in-residence in New York and Xiamen questioning whether I would be someone else somewhere else, or look if perhaps identity and location would appear to be exchangeable ideas. In search for an answer, I deliberately got lost, jump from bus to bus, ended up in the outskirts and found my way back home with my eyes and ears wide open. On site, I collected and systematically jotted down personal observations of the cityscape: fractions of conversations, a blossoming magnolia under a window, subtle changes in the colour of the sky above the city, the sound of rain in a park: poetical ornaments that are everywhere but define the character of their domain in the way they appear to me. These seemingly unimportant background sceneries enclosed the dialect of the location and formed scattered landmarks of the border-area between the city and me. In Hotel Insomnia, with a series of drawings, light boxes and installations, I carefully reconstructed them as marks to another place that moved with me from one city to the other."
